Upcoming Red Blood Moon On Friday Will Be The Longest Lunar Eclipse Of The Century

Brace yourself, the longest lunar eclipse of the century is going to be a breathtaking sight for people across the world. Yes, for India too!

A lunar eclipse takes place when the Earth casts its shadow on the surface of the moon while passing between the sun and the moon.

It's when the Earth, its moon as well as the Sun are in one line and the moon’s orbit brings the orb completely under the Earth’s shadow.

This full lunar eclipse will last one hour and 42 minutes - the longest this century.

The long duration of Blood Moon on Friday will be caused by the fact that the Earth is going to be at the farthest point from the Sun at the time of the eclipse, making the shadow of Earth wider and longer.

Blood Moon 2018 on July 27 will be the second lunar eclipse of the year 2018 since the last one which took place on 31st January 2018.

The lunar eclipse or Blood Moon 2018 on July 27 will be visible in parts of Europe, Asia, New Zealand, Australia and parts of Africa as well as South America.
