Once She Used to Sing Bhajans in The Temples Now Rules Bollywood

Bollywood is a place where a rich can become a rag and vice versa. There are a number of examples of people who were poor, tried their luck in Bollywood and with the help of talent and hard work made it to the top. Today we will tell you about one such star who spent her childhood in poverty but later became one of the iconic singers of the Bollywood.


We are talking about Sunidhi Chauhan who used to sing Bhajans or songs in the temples. She started singing just at the age of 4. Sunidhi’s father Dushyant Chauhan was also a good singer. Sunidhi has studied up to 10th standard only. She then shifted to Mumbai with family to make her dreams come true. 
She participated in a singing show on Doordarshan and won it. This also made her win a ticket to Bollywood. At age 13, she debuted as a singer in Bollywood. She sang for the film Shastra. But it was Ram Gopal Verma’s film Mast‘s song Ruki Ruki through which she shot to fame.

Her personal life also grabbed headlines. Just at age 18, she got married to 14 years older choreographer Bobby Khan. Her family was against this marriage. Soon she got divorced just after a year of her marriage. Due to personal life setback, her career was also affected. That time, it was singer-composer Anu Malik who helped her. She again geared up her career and went on to become one of the best singers of Bollywood industry. Now she is married to Hitesh Sonik and is a mother of a son.
