The Gandhi scion may be losing the race of the most eligible bachelors in town, but he is certainly the most conspicuous one around and any news about his marriage is bound to leave people amazed and amused. Rahul has often been linked with rumoured girlfriends in the past too. Is this then his sprint to the final plunge?

The daughter of Congress veteran Akhilesh Singh, a five-time MLA from Rae Bareli, 29-year-old Aditi won the seat in 2017 beating her nearest BJP rival by over 90,000 votes. The suave and sophisticated new political face in UP, Aditi studied in Massouri and Delhi before getting a management graduate degree from Duke University in the US. She is often seen busy strengthening the grassroots coordinates at Rae Bareli.

Why the brouhaha?
The recent marriage rumour broke out following a WhatsApp message that circulated from Rae Bareli where the Congress president is seen with MLA Aditi Singh. The message spread that the marriage of the two would be solemnised by the end of May. Other social media verticals took this up and stories grew rifer and wilder. Afterall Rahul is not getting any younger.

While the frenzied battle of wits and words gripped social media, Aditi took to her image-building exercise. She pleaded with people to stop spreading and debating all the nonsense, at the same time expressing her surprise and sadness at such naivety. She eulogised her party boss as her 'elder brother' and established that she had old relations with the Congress' first family. Priyanka and Rahul had indeed campaigned for her. Aditi also called it a propaganda in the wake of the Karnataka polls which is seeing a tough BJP-Congress battle. But the clarifications could not stop the rumour mills from churning stories.

Aditi Singh may not be in some conjugal treaty with Rahul Gandhi but there are no definitive or conclusive proves to establish that either. Celebrity marriages these days are hush-hush buildups till the last day. Many early denials later end up in happy endings. This too may be a possibility. Aditi is often seen among various Congress leaders and especially with Sonia Gandhi and her family members. She is a friend of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and is said to have joined politics on her insistence. Therefore, her association with Rahul is obvious, both at the personal level and in the political domain. Spicy stories about celebrities sell. But all bestsellers are not worth reading.
