Keep Your Home Cool Without an AC

Simple yet useful ways to make your summers cooler.

Brutal summers aren't anything new. Tossing on the bed, struggling with sweaty palms, taking a bath twice or thrice in a day, opening the refrigerator gate again and again and getting scolded by your mother, spending summers in-house, is irritating and awful. And all of this becomes really challenging if there is no air conditioning.
What would you do?
Well, you are just a few steps away from keeping your house cool and fresh in this beating summer that too without any air conditioning appliance.
Have a look:

# You got to play smart and make a strategy to leave windows open.

If you are an early riser, open the windows in the morning as it's cool at that time of the day. Shut them in the afternoon as it gets warm. Then open them again in the evening and let the night air come in.

# It's time to break up with electronics in summers.

I know this can be difficult, but it's important to ditch appliances in summers. Why? Because they get hot easily.
So, unplug them when they are not in use.

# Keeping yourself cool is equally important.

Sip some iced drinks, use cold cloth for your neck and wrists, use cold water to dip your legs and bring out the loose and short clothes... in all do things to keep yourself fresh because that is equally important.

# Try cooling only one room.

Rather than trying to cool the whole house, close the rooms that are not in use and focus on cooling only one room that you are using.

# This is a good time to bring exhaust fans in use.

It is a perfect time to bring those kitchen and bathroom fans to use.

# Trust me, planting trees and plants will benefit you in all seasons.

Trees and plants are the best shields against sunlight. And they are inexpensive as well. All you need to do is select the plants and trees according to your area, their expected height, canopy width and how much their roots can grow as they mature.

# Inexpensive heat-reflecting films can be good option.

If you know that this summers there will be no AC to save you, it is better you make a couple of changes for long-term improvements. Installing inexpensive heat-reflecting films on windows is one good way to block the sun from coming in.
I hope these simple measures save you and even your bill this summer.
