The Karachi Bakery In Bengaluru To Cover The Word ‘Karachi’ Post Pulwama Attack

The dreadful terrorist attack carried out by the Pakistan-based militant group, Jaish-e-Mohammad, took the lives of 40 CRPF personnel in Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14th. The country is yet to recover from the shock loss and the situation in India has turned more hostile than ever.
And with revenge on the mind, India has been cutting all ties with Pakistan following the suicide bombing episode. From the ‘Most Favoured Nation’ tag being taken off to the BCCI thinking of not playing Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, from movie releases being canceled to Pak artists being banned from the Indian film industry, India is making it clear that the two nations can’t be ‘friends’ anymore.
And now, the Karachi Bakery in Bangaluru’s Indiranagar, has faced the fury of Indian citizens.

Soon after the Pulwama tragedy, people in Bengaluru have been demanding the closing down of the Karachi Bakery & Cafe which was started by a Sindhi partition survivor Khanchand Ramnami in 1952 after he migrated to Hyderabad in 1947. The reason? The name ‘Karachi’ which comes from a city in Pakistan.

However, on Friday, the popular cafe saw an unidentified mob gather outside the outlet, with their demand for taking down the signboard. Though the cafe managed to save their signboard, they had to cover it with a poster in order to silent the group. They also got the cafe to hang an Indian flag on the front window above the signboard.

According to News18, not only the Indiranagar branch but the other branches of the cafe have also been receiving threats. The police confirmed that they got a call for help from the Indiranagar branch on Friday.

The Karachi Bakery has been a trending topic on Twitter since Friday, with most of the people slamming the mob for the act.
