This Is Why Twitter Account Of Mumbai Police Has Become People Favorite

Social Media has been a revolution in the world of the Internet. It gives freedom to everyone to say anything they want to, and it will be heard. But, at the same time, it gives room for negativity, twisted ideologies, and of course, trolls. So, if one needs to be a social media star, we need to learn the art of saying our ‘thing’ in a way that people acknowledge it. And Mumbai Police has certainly mastered this art over the years.
In the last three years, their Twitter followers have grown from 32,000 to 4.6 million followers.
The reason for their massive popularity is their hard-working creative team which compromises of 25-30 police constables, graphic designers, the police commissioner and also, the Joint Commissioner of police.

Sunchika Pandey, who was a former crime reporter, currently handles the twitter account of Mumbai Police. She explains how the whole team works,

“Regular weekly meetings are held in the office of the Commissioner of Mumbai Police, where the team  brainstorms on the next theme or the next campaign that engages people.”

She further tells how every team member works dedicatedly to keep their Twitter handle up to date,

“It is the young constables on the ground who tips off the team on issues that people should be made aware of. Then there is a different group of about 15-18 constables that work in three different shifts monitoring responses to the tweets. Two senior officers head each shift.”

The final approval of any content that will be posted online is given by the police commissioner.
For Mumbai Police, it is definitely not about the followers, but the relationship which they formed with the people. Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner, Deven Bharti, says,

“We try all we can to provide them better service and accessibility and keep them alert and advise them about precautions to be taken during various situations. I don’t think any government department or institution has such a close day-to-day interaction with the people.”
No doubt, they are the ‘Sushma Swaraj’ of Mumbai as they are tagged in all sorts of complaints. But Mumbai Police knows to solve it all. Their social head says,

“Many people don’t understand that some of the problems they flag to us are the responsibility of the Regional Transport Office or PWD. So, we keep in touch with the departments and forward the complaints,”

Seeing their tremendous amount of hard work, passion, and dedication, no can doubt why they are so popular on Twitter and full of swag. They deserve a grand salute from everyone.
