Indian Chess Player Proposes Colombian Grandmaster Girlfriend At Chess Olympiad

Proposals are meant to be special. And you better admit, that almost all of us have thought of proposing our girlfriend or crush in the most perfect way possible. Candlelights, an expensive ring, a picturesque location, we all love to plan it significantly, right?
However, those were not the case when Indian chess player-turned-journalist Niklesh Jain proposed to the love of his life. But what was special about the moment is that he couldn’t have chosen a better place to put forward his feelings.

The ongoing Chess Olympiad in Georgia saw a heart-warming moment on Tuesday, as Niklesh Jain chose to give his girlfriend Angela Franco, a surprise. Angela is a Colombian Chess player who was a participant in the elite tournament.

Angela’s match was about to start in a few minutes and the final arrangements were being made. However, Niklesh decided to make the moment special as he went down on his knees and presented the ring. The Colombian was initially taken aback but happily accepted the proposal afterward.



The incident took place in the main hall amidst the numerous matches that were being played there at that time. The proposal was followed by huge cheers from the participants in the hall.


According to Hindustan Times, Niklesh said that the Olympiad, which is known as the “temple for chess players” seemed to be the perfect place for an exceptional moment like this.
