3 Indians Will Spend 7 Days In Space, ISROs Ambitious Gaganyaan Plan Is On

With the year ending, Indians received a piece of very happy and proud news.  India is ready with its first spaceflight mission. India’s space agency ISRO (Indian space and research organization) is prepared with a space mission which will send humans into space, something which ISRO has not done yet. It is a big achievement and finally, India’s manned space mission is on track. On December 28, the Cabinet gave green signal to Gaganyaan, India’s human spaceflight programme. Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the project in his Independence Day speech.
The mission will be sending a 3-member crew for a minimum of 7 days in space at an overall cost of Rs 10,000 crore. The space programme will make India the fourth country after China, Russia, and the USA to send humans in space. Dr. K Sivan, Chairman of ISRO said that in 2022 India will be able to achieve its ambitious dream.

ISRO’s biggest rocket, the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mk III) will carry three Indians into space from the Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh.

The Gaganyaan Mission is expected to cost Rs 10,000 crore ($1.4 billion) which will be less than China’s cost. According to a report China spent 18 billion yuan ($2.62 billion or 1,83,20,35,00,000 INR) on its mission to send humans to space back in 2003.

ISRO is planning the crew to be trained by the Indian Air Force and it might be a  possibility that Russia will also train the crew for India’s powerful Satellite launch. India will be calling its astronauts “Vyomnauts” since “Vyom” in Sanskrit means space.

Naturally, netizens reacted on the big announcement. Some sounded very proud whereas some took a jibe at the big decision.
