Take A Look At 18 YO Hima Das 400m Final Run That Created History

The country of India is oozing with pride as 18-year-old Hima Das from Assam achieved a phenomenal feat in Finland, at Tampere’s World U20 Championships. The daughter of a rice farmer from Dhing village in Nagaon district, the teenager, became the first Indian ever to win track gold at a global event.
Just 18 months after running her first competitive race, Hima looked nervous at the starting block of the 400m final race. She started slowly and found herself trailing at the home stretch. However, pulling the gears late, Hima’s fiery run in the final 80m, saw her overtake three rivals to clinch the gold medal. She clocked an impressive 51.46 seconds in a sprint that created history.
